How does Thai Foot Massage work?

Thai Foot Massage works on the ten Sen Lines (reflex/pressure points) on the feet which correspond to the different internal organs in the body, through which life energy, prana or chi flows. This is based on the theory that all illness, pain and disease results from blockages arising in the flow of energy. By working along these lines with pressure, and by stretching the lines blocked energy is able to be released and bodily functions are balanced – very similar to the practice of acupuncture, acupressure and shiatsu.

Traditional Thai Foot Massage can be effective in releiving various dysfunctions and disorders and its is also a wonderful treatment for promoting overall good health, boost the immune system, increase energy and provide a general sense of wellbeing.

The history of Thai Foot Massage.

Traditional Thai Foot Massage is a unique and powerful therapy and an ancient form of Healing. It has it’s roots in India from where it was brought to Thailand over 2000 years ago by Ayurvedic doctors and Buddhist monks. It is essentially a combination of acupressure, energy balancing and stretching with applied yoga exercise. Thai Foot Massage became a traditional method of healing, regularly used by the Buddhist communities. It’s benefits spread to Southeast Aisia and for centuries it was administered by monks as one element of indigenous Thai medicine.

While most western massage practices focus on tissue manipulation and the working of the muscles and joints, Thai massage is a manipulation of the pressure points, energy lines also known as *Sen lines, and basic body forces which combined are highly effective.

Thai foot massage uses thumbs, hands and a wooden accupressure tool to apply massage to the thighs, lower legs and feet, I use rubbing, kneading & stretching techniques So it is wise to wear loose fitting trousers, shorts or a skirt as I use coconut oil and a Thai herbal rub for muscle relaxation.
